Dear Caregivers,
It has been sometime now since the first small group of caregivers encouraged Shirley to teach the Caregiver Course. I have heard and appreciated listening to the many challenges individuals met as they went along the process to finishing the course, obtaining jobs and ultimately work permits. I am feeling very grateful to especially the first band of hearty souls that braved the path toward being legal here with work permits and in other ways to all the caregivers for many have shared their stories and challenges.
This past week, I returned from Seattle with my work permit. I very much felt as though I was walking a well worn path, marked out by all those of you who have gone before me. I thank Shirley and all of you for the ease in following in your foot steps..
I attended TLC Caregiver school from March to August of 2005. I found that not only was the school very carefully organized to provide as much information and opportunity to learn as possible, it was quite enjoyable. The course provided me with good skills to begin my new life as a Nanny and I very much enjoyed and appreciated Shirley as the teacher; while her teaching skills are relaxed and easy, her integrity is impeccable.
Jan 2008, I will have completed my two years as a Nanny for two boys.

I am from Japan and studied at TLC-Edmonton from June-November 2006 before starting work as a live-in nanny right after completing the course.
I gained much knowledge on children, the elderly and the physically challenged through the school curriculum and it helped me in my choice to be a nanny.
The teachers are kind, experienced and helpful and the small class size helped me to get to get know the teachers and students. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere at school very much.
The help which I received in writing my resume in English, practicing for job interviews, learning how to search for a job and completing official documents for a visa enabled me to find a great employer for whom I have been working for almost a year.
The curriculum is perfect for those who are planning to work as live-in caregivers in Canada - I do not know of a better or more helpful school than this one. The tuition fees are very reasonable compared to other schools and this proves that this school's mission is not just about making a profit but helping the students and contributing to the community.
I am so glad that I chose TLC-Edmonton and I highly recommend this school to those who are pursuing the path of immigration to Canada through the Live-in Caregiver program.

I've been enjoying the live-in caregiver training course. I came here from Vancouver and I think that I made the right decision to study at TLC Edmonton.
Because my teacher is so enthusiastic about what she's teaching it's easy to learn from her. She encourages us to express our thoughts and opinions.
We also get some hands-on experience to prepare us for work as caregivers.
As for finding a job, I've received advice from the teacher and my classmates, who have already landed jobs, and that will definitely help me to find a good family to work for.

Hello, I am a Student of the Live-in Caregiver course since Feb 2007 and I'm happy that I could study in this school.
A variety of classroom teaching methods are used and I've learn't a lot of useful information about caregiving. The teacher is very knowledgeable and also very helpful and warm and I don't feel at all anxious about becoming a caregiver.
I enjoy studying with my classmates and we sometimes enjoy activities like walking, barbeque etc. after school and during holidays.
I live in the accommodation at the school. It's comfortable and the people here are nice and I really enjoy studying and staying here.

I participated in The Live In Caregiver program 3 years ago..It has proved to be invaluable in my work as a Caregiver in so many useful and practical ways.
I really enjoyed the course and the interactions with other students, and I loved the challenge of learning new and interesting information. I appreicated the range of subjects that were covered in the 6 months. Shirley is a very resourceful person and loves to help her students in any way she can. She is very encouraging and supportive as a teacher and in the preparation for getting work as a Caregiver.
I am so very glad I did the course, not only does it support the Immigration process to be in Canada, but it has given me a skill and a confidence in a new area of employment. I now work as a Nanny in Edmonton. I highly reccommend this course.

I'm so glad that I found TLC Edmonton training school for Live-in Caregivers. It's a warm and welcoming place and the teachers are very kind and helpful.
At the time of writing, I have already completed 5 months of the training course and I feel more confident.
Not only did I gain more knowledge as a caregiver, but I think that I'll be able to care about the person who needs care, more than before.
