Vacations as a live-in caregiver

0 votes
hi! i'm so glad to found this forum coz i have some questions.

1. do i need to renew my work permit every year? my work permit's validity is for 2 years and i've been working for almost a year (january). so do i need to renew my work permit before it turned 1 year?

2. if i didn't use my annual vacation can i carry it over to the next one? caregivers are allowed 2weeks annual vacation right? so if i wasn't able to use it this year, can i still use it next year so i could have 4weeks vacation? is that possible?

3. it says in the cic website that caregivers can have a vacation to their home country. i am planning to go back home next december but my concern is that my work permit will be expired on january 11 2010. so what do i need to do? can i re enter Canada before the expiration of my work permit? is it possible that i could get a new work permit and visa before i leave Canada for a vacation so i could return?

thanks so much for all the help! your response will be greatly appreciated.

1. If your work permit is 2 years in validity you don't need to.

2. That depends on you and your employer. Talk to them about it.

3. Going for a holiday beyond your work permit validity is not a good idea.
