MY QUESTION IS...I'm planning to go to Miami on holidays for 10 days. I applied for my permanent residence last september. I already have an update letter from my employer showing that I'll be still working with them next year, my contract, my work permit and my US visa....Is there anything else should I get? thanks
Ohhh..I'm originally from Colombia and I'm working in vancouver

Well, I realize my response is going to be too late to be of any help to you but for the sake of others who may be reading this forum....it sounds like you should be fine. The issue is not getting back into Canada. If you have a valid work permit then you should have no problem leaving Canada and coming back in. And if you have a US visa then there should be no problem getting into the USA either.
The only issue with leaving Canada (that I am aware of) is if you are from a country where you require a visa to enter Canada and your work permit has expired...there is no guarantee at all that you will be allowed back in. This becomes an issue if you have completed your two years of caregiving, applied for your landed status and then leave while you are waiting for it to be approved with no valid work permit to give you entry back in. In this case I have heard of people losing their right to Immigrate because they can not get back into the country. So in a situation like that...don't leave until you have your permanent resident card in your hands!
